  • Provide expert advice to the CEO, Board and senior leaders on political opportunities, risks and engagement approaches
  • Oversee briefing materials, submissions and policy communications that reflect our evidence-based positions
  • Ensure consistency and alignment across all government-facing messaging and engagement
  • Monitor the political landscape to proactively identify and act on emerging issues
  • Support alignment with national initiatives through collaboration with RSPCA Australia
  • Lead a high-performing team focused on policy, reform, and research
  • Champion a culture of ethical, proactive stakeholder engagement across the organisation
  • Represent RSPCA Qld in key forums, inquiries, working groups and events
  • Support integration of government messaging into fundraising and public-facing strategies
  • Drive internal understanding of stakeholder management and reputation across departments

About You:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in government relations, policy, or public affairs
  • A deep understanding of Australian government structures and processes (State, Federal, Local)
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including brief writing and speech preparation
  • Proven ability to influence decision-makers and foster trusted partnerships
  • Leadership experience managing teams in a strategic or advocacy setting
  • Experience in or strong commitment to the not-for-profit or public sector
